New Conservative Leader
and Board Member
My wife and I escaped Auckland in 1992 and shifted down to her hometown of Rangiora with our two small children.
We have lived in the area ever since facing the challenges of snow, winds, washed out bridges and then Earthquakes, while at the same time running our building business and raising our family.
Waimakariri is home to us and it is hard to imagine living anywhere else where we can be only half an hour from an international airport, but enjoy a rural lifestyle, time with families and trading with people who still treat a handshake with respect.
While living here I have worked with at risk youth, trained up multiple apprentices, supported local businesses and been involved in markets through our small blueberry farm.
My involvement in politics started with a realization that the democracy we have is very weak and successive governments have totally ignored the voting population between elections, they have failed to recognize that they are the employees and servants of the people.
It is a blight on our political system that no New Zealand government has ever honoured a citizens initiated referenda, even when those referenda have gained 90% support from the voters.
My goals in politics are:
To make voters important again by making citizens initiated referenda binding.
To make taxpayers important again by good stewardship of the taxes paid.
To make families important again as strong healthy families are the foundation for healthy, well adjusted children.
To make victims important again by putting in place systems that rehabilitate offenders well, but also makes them accountable to change.
To make New Zealand important again by protecting our sovereignty and putting the interests of New Zealand ahead of international agreements made by non elected officials.
To bring a bit of reality and experience into parliament that is not afraid to call a spade a spade and to stand up for truth
New Zealand is at a real crossroads with ideologies being forced on us that have never succeeded, but have forced millions into poverty.
It is past time that the people of New Zealand stood up for the values and principles that made us such a great little country, rejected government excessive control and reminded politicians that they work for the people and not the other way round.
New Conservative is the only party I have seen that offers that outlook.
