Hank has been married for 37 years and has four adult children and fourteen grandchildren.
He is a committed Christian.
He strongly believes in providing a national framework allowing youth to thrive, families to be strong, and home ownership to be a reality.
Hank first arrived in New Zealand with his parents as a little boy in the late 1960s. During the 1970s, his family moved to Australia where he continued his education.
Hank completed a trade, a bachelor’s degree majoring in law and history, a postgraduate diploma in education and a master’s degree in applied science majoring in environmental science.
He believes that the climate changes but fails to see that it is human induced.
Hank has worked for the New South Wales and New Zealand governments, as well as in private industries, and has operated several of his own businesses.
A reduction in ‘red tape’ is a must, in order that small firms may blossom in New Zealand, particularly family-owned businesses and farms.
Hank has trained apprentices, taught at a polytechnic and a university, and is currently employed as a teacher of secondary classes where he mixes with teenagers daily, hearing their concerns, hopes and aspirations.
He has ongoing governance experience, serving as the staff-elected representative on the school Board of Trustees for several election cycles.
Making Select Committee submissions and then seeing the government passing legislation in opposition to most of the submitters has led Hank to conclude that New Zealand voters are not listened to.
The most recent case was the hurried passing of the Abortion Legislation Act on the 18th of March 2020 during an emerging COVID-19 crisis; the announcement to close New Zealand’s borders came the following day.
The New Conservative focus on strong families, free speech, lower personal taxation, the value of human life, a reduction in state regulations, the emphasis on New Zealand’s sovereignty, efficiency in government spending and a greater attention to genuine democracy are all values that Hank stands for and supports.
