Josh Honiss is the New Conservative candidate for Invercargill.

“I want New Zealand to stand strong against the moral and social landslide being seen throughout the western world. I am prepared to stand up and fight for this. Will you stand with me?”

Josh is a proud Southlander who lives in Invercargill with his wife and two children. Together they run a small building business and are keen outdoors enthusiasts. Southland boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in New Zealand and they find it a great place to live and to raise a family.

A number of factors have motivated Josh to get involved with the New Conservative campaign this year.

As an employer, he wants to see a strong economic future for New Zealand. He believes New Conservative’s focus on reforming tax policy will greatly assist New Zealand families in being self-sufficient, and help them achieve their goals and dreams. And in the current times we are living in, New Conservative’s economic policy is the kind we need.

As a licensed firearms owner, Josh strongly objects to the government’s undemocratic, rushed, and ill-thought-out firearms legislation. He believes that good consultation at the community and expert level are essential in the implementation of good laws, and this was not seen. He believes that the legislation has penalised law-abiding citizens while doing nothing to curb gun-related crime. The legislation should be repealed, and an investigation should be carried out with good consultation to determine what changes, if any, need to be made to the Arms act.

As a father, Josh was horrified by changes to New Zealand’s abortion laws. New Conservative argues that abortion should remain under the Crimes Act, as it involves the choices of one or more people resulting in the death of another. To Josh, this is not a health issue, but a moral one, and must be considered as such. He considers abortion to be one of the fundamental moral problems of our time, and he wholeheartedly endorses New Conservative’s stance.

The manner in which recent legislation has been passed has made a mockery of our democratic process. This is symptomatic of broader problems within government. Josh asserts that in a true democracy, a government should listen and submit to the will of its people, rather than the people submitting to the will of their government.

It is time for New Conservative to bring democracy back — and to make people important again.

Invercargill voters are encouraged to give their party vote to New Conservative and their electorate vote to Josh Honiss.
